Website discussions
Miscellaneous
e. Other subgroups are possible: Clarksville Mafia? Prewar clatter? OTHER?
f. The Secure area of the site will also contain a Club – Only reference site for meeting minutes, membership lists, regalia, and other members-only information.
10. Are there any other website topics requiring discussion today?
Mike thanked Andy Adams and Dylan Wood for the fine job they have done bringing our site up to speed. It was agreed that postings for want ads should last 60 days (point 5). It was also agreed that car show postings should be limited to the current 250 miles (point 6).
The membership offered no substantial comments on the site except for praise on the overall timeliness of information, quick accessibility, and improved look. The next big hurdle will be implementation of the forums section.
President’s Observations:
At the end of his 2 year term, Mike Long was pleased with the membership growth, the evident enthusiasm, and improved communications within the club. With substantial support from Mother Nature and many volunteers, he expressed pleasure that the 2006 and 2007 car shows were judged very successful by most. Website improvement had been a membership priority and that seems on the right track thanks to Dylan Wood and Andy Adams. The membership was thanked for all of their support through event attendance, terrific food supply, car show work, and direction to the officers.
Mike foresees club opportunities to include a better welcome for new members with a packet of info, name tags, etc. as well as a probable need to review and update the club charter and bylaws which date to 1992.
Election of Officers:
Mike Long’s two-year term as President was over, and he asked the group for nominations for new President. W.O. Greene nominated Tom Tomlinson. Tom had taken the position of Vice President in the middle of the term, serving only one year, but the membership agreed to waive the second year and let him accept the President position.
Nomination was accepted by the membership.
Curt Curtiss was nominated for Vice President and that position was accepted by the membership.
Sidney Franklin stepped up to fill the Secretary position, and the membership accepted.
Kara Winkle will continue to be Treasurer.
Members at Large:
Andy Adams
Frank and Peggy Broome
Phil and Ramona Trusty
Rick Winkel
At this point. as newly elected President, Tom Tomlinson proceeded to lead the remainder of the meeting and pizza was delivered.
Tom thanked everyone for their support of him as Vice President and their kindness shown to him during his heart surgery last year. He thanked Mike Long for the great job he had done during the last two years, and on behalf of the club presented him with an NBCC jacket. Tom also made special note of the great job W.O. Greene did for serving as Treasurer for many years, and Mike Long presented him with an NBCC jacket as well.
2008 Car Show:
- Ray McCrary offered to be chairman again this year for the Car Show and this was accepted by the membership.
- Pinkerton Park site is not available for the usual October date – possible dates would be October 4 or 18 if we use Pinkerton Park
- It was suggested we try a new venue in 2008 – possibly BelleMeade Mansion or the Clover Bottom Mansion
- The Greenes noted that the grounds at BelleMeade would make it difficult to have as large a show as we have previously held at Pinkerton.
- Tom Tomlinson and Ray McCrary (and whoever else is on the car show committee) will go out to BelleMeade and take a look at a possible layout.
Kars4Kids – Tom suggested we continue to sponsor 4 classes at the 2008 Kars4Kids Show @ $100 – membership agreed.
Monthly Events:
March - Arvin and Debbie Appleman
April - Curt and Debby Curtiss
May - W.O. and Catherine Greene
June - Kevin Anderson
July - Dave and Imogene Leonard
August - Phil and Ramona Trusty
September- Frank and Peggy Broome
October- Car Show
November- Tom and Patti Tomlinson
2008 Christmas Party – Possibilities – Tom Smith‘s garage or Carl George’s facility, or perhaps a restaurant.
Thursday Night Dinners – These have been very successful, but it was brought up that perhaps a week-end day would be better. Sunday afternoon/early evening was proposed and the Tomlinsons are going to look at some possible locations.
Miscellaneous Topics and Comments – Phil Trusty commented that the club might join the SCCA autocross events at the Lebanon Race Course. Additional comment was made that we could stage our own (Ray McCrary has timing equipment) if our insurance is adequate.
Regalia:
Need to have new name badges made for all existing members
Letters need to be sent to all new members with name badges
Possible logo stickers for our cars
NBCC business cards for members
Badge, hat, pin, and other regalia should be restocked for sale on the website.
Club Public Relations:
W. O. mentioned that our club should be advertised more. Louisville Club started out as ours has and through publicity has grown.
Charity:
Club needs to give back to the community in the form of charity money.
Suggested that club work on a donated car and then raffle off the finished vehicle with the money going to a charity.
Craig Abington suggested we could hold dances to raise charity money.
Need to form a Charity Committee/Task Force to brainstorm possibilities.
People who signed up for this Committee:
Debby Curtiss
Jim McFarland
W.O. Greene
Ramona Trusty
Tech Sessions:
As in year’s past, members are very interested in having tech sessions. It was mentioned that Carl George’s new facility might be a location to have these sessions. Tom Tomlinson will look into making these sessions happen.
Meeting was adjourned and the Lane Museum tour started.
Carol Long
NBCC Secretary
