Nashville British Car Club - Annual Meeting – Sunday, January 16, 2010

Location – Lane Motor Museum, Nashville, TN

Meeting was called to order by Tom Tomlinson at 1:11 pm. Attendance sheets were distributed and a list of attendees present was taken.

A special “Thank You” was given to Debbie Curtiss for the frequent use of her house over the past year for planning meetings. There was also a special “Thank You” to Andy Adams for his work on the website. Matt Cardin was thanked for his efforts In the production of the Car Show Tee Shirts. Carl George was remembered for hosting our get togethers – the car show reception and the Christmas Party. Randy Robinson was recognized for his work in setting up the booth at the Motor Trend International Car Show. A special thanks was given to Jeff Lane for hosting the annual meeting. Ann Luther was recognized for her work and contribution to the success of the Club’s activities – particularly the Show Reception.

Tom recommended that Andy Adams remain “Webmaster” for the coming year for continuity.

Tom announced that the membership had risen to 193 members during 2009 – a growth of 21%.

Mickey Richaud gave us an update on the Triumph Stag Drive Across America undertaken by John McCartney. The Stag just sold on eBAy for over $32,000.

The Club has been invited to participate in the Nashville Speedway 100th Year anniversary celebration and farewell party to be held at the Nashville Fairground Speedway and hosted by Buck Dozier. Peter Ward is coordinating these activities.

Under Old Business – The secretary’s minutes for the 2009 Membership Meeting were read by Sydney Franklin. A Motion was made to accept the minutes without change and was seconded and carried.

Under New Business, several items were discussed:

1. There was a discussion concerning sites for the Annual Car Show. Two sites were discussed – Centennial Park and the Belle Meade United Methodist Church. Tom explained that the three essential elements for a great show are Visibility, Accessibility and Utility.

 

2. Tom told us that several members travel to regional shows and create relationships with members of other clubs. This year at some of the shows, there was a discussion concerning a ‘Club of the Year” point system thereby creating inter-club competition. There was also discussion about a “Regional“ Car Club as well.

3. There was a discussion concerning changes and updates to the club by-laws – which must be approved by a 2/3 vote of the membership. Changes included:

     a. The Alternate Secretary position was discussed as a backup for the club secretary and as a tie breaker if needed for voting. A motion was made to                  delete this position. The motion passed with 23 votes

     b. A discussion on changing the dues was postponed until after distribution of the Treasurer’s Report.

     c. A vote was taken to create a Club Corporate address to eliminate changes every time a new President was elected. The vote was unanimous to change         the Club’s Corporate address to JD’ s shop address.

     d. A provision was voted to give members 30 days notice on upcoming subjects that needed to be voted on.

     e. Debbie Curtiss made a motion to table all discussions of further By-Law changes until they could be distributed and reviewed by the membership.                  Motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

 

4. The Treasurer’s report was distributed by Phil Trusty. A note concerning the $1,000 donation to the Closer to Home charity was discussed. This amount was matched by Bridgestone/Firestone – also a club contributor. Phil announced that there were twl outstanding checks on the books – one to Jeff Lane ($20) as reimbursement for a never received show tee shirt and the other ($47) for insurance that was never cashed.

Elections for directors and officers for 2010 were then held.

At this point the meeting was turned over to Mike Long by Tom Tomlinson. Mike accepted volunteers for the monthly expeditions into the countryside – drive chairmen are as follows:

   March - Ray McCrary

   April - Mickey Richaud

   May - Paul Stedman

   June - Curt Curtiss

   July - Phil Trusty

   August - JD Damon

   September - Mike Long

   October - Glenn Schnittke

JD agree to take the responsibility for producing and distributing a club newsletter.

A motion was made, seconded, and passed unanimously to adjourn the meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 3:28 pm.
