July 19, 2008 marks the Fifth Annual Keeneland Concours d’Elegance at Keeneland Racetrack (horses in case you were wondering) in Lexington, KY. This is a great opportunity to see some of the same great automobiles you would expect to see at Pebble Beach or Amelia Island, but without the long drive and expense of being a spectator. The event is held at the beautiful grounds of the Entertainment Center adjacent to the Keeneland Racetrack.

Admission to the event is $15 which is collected as you enter the grounds. There will be a number of Car Club Corrals and the parking attendants will direct you to your corral. The Car Club Paddock has become an important element of the Keeneland Concours, making it a "show within a show". Clubs are given specially designated parking areas in close proximity to the 100 juried automobiles and on either side of the road leading into the Concours.

In 2007, over 400 Club participants enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with fellow automotive enthusiasts and enjoy the day’s festivities.

There will also be a “Hanger Bash” party after the concours on Saturday across the highway at the Aviation Museum of Kentucky. Party starts at 5:30pm and there will be light finger food and liquid libations. There will be several old museum planes there and also a “fly-in” of about 20 vintage planes, including a P51, around 4pm. Tickets to the Hanger Bash are $15 each and limited to 300, so if you want to go, purchase your tickets early.

Details on the event are at http://www.keenelandconcours.com/.

The Nashville Area Car Clubs are going to caravan up to the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance on Saturday July 19th. We will be meeting at the K-Mart parking lot at 230 Long Hollow Pike in Goodlettsville, just off of I-65, Exit 97 Hwy 174/Long Hollow Pike at 6:45am. There is a BP Gas Station at the edge of the parking lot for you to fill up, get a drink and snacks, and to use the restroom.  We will depart from the K-Mart parking lot at 7am headed to Bowling Green. As we pass through Bowling Green, we will be joined on the interstate by a group of cars from the Bowling Green Euro Classics. We will be making a stop at the Kentucky Rest Area at mile marker 56 just prior to getting on the Blue Grass Parkway. We will have a twenty minute stop there before proceeding onto Lexington. Total trip distance is 190 miles and should take a total time (including rest stop) of 3 hours and 20 minutes. This will put us at the Concours at approximately 12:30pm (eastern time). On Sunday, everyone will be free to travel back to Nashville at their leasure.
