The Strawberry Festival and Saturday Entertainment
The Portland trip turned out to be a good one. The morning was cool but it warmed up as the day went on and we were driving the excellent route that Andy Adams had worked out.
After all of the scenic views we could handle, we ended up at The Bottom View Farm where we picked strawberries. Patti took some unflattering photos of a number of us while we bent over to pick the gorgeous fresh strawberries. We picked way more than we needed and have already eaten them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The parade was long and crowded with people who wanted to catch candy. The children were adorable as they gathered up the treats and celebrated the season with a warped version of springtime Halloween. There were clowns, beauty queens, floats, old cars and tractors, as well as barbeque, waffle cones, chili dogs and much more.
It was discovered that TR3’s don’t like parades as they move too slowly and cause the engine to overheat. The Riley, other Triumphs and Jaguar did just fine.
In attendance were the Longs, the Tomlinsons, the Broomes, the Curtis duo, the Greenes, and Andy Adams with his son-in-law Justin from England. When the parade was over, some of us went into Gallatin to eat dinner on the square and then headed home.
Our sunburns are complete, our stomachs replete, and the good-time quotient was met.

While waiting for the parade to start, Mike Long spotted a lone old flatbed truck and discovered a treasure trove of old vehicles. Check them out at: Tractors!
