Greetings from Mike Long and the rest of the NBCC!
I’d really liked to have distributed a newsletter before now, but the news was
slim, time got away from me, plus……. I’m kind-of lazy. However, I think that
things are picking up and we have some information we need to get into your hands!
Car Show Venue: As projected during January’s annual meeting, the car show will be held Oct 8, 2011 at Nashville’s Centennial Park. We have cleared most of the Park’s hurdles and fees, which apparently change from year-to-year, and our event will be laid out similar to last year’s plan. Because our show day will not coincide with any Vanderbilt occasions this year, we may have more park “entry” points than last year….but we’ll still need to have a limited and orderly initial approach for cars past the registration point.
Matt Carden and Andy Adams are co-chairs of the show and their committee continues to refine all aspects of the show. Glen Schnitke has taken the lead on field layout and has made subtle changes as suggested by the committee. Last year’s show worked well….so will this one.
Show Information: Registration: Part of this packet contains copies of the show entry form and a flyer for the show. These are for you to use, copy, share….whatever you can do to get your car(‘s) there and encourage others to do the same. Andy Adams and Dylan Wood have once again implemented a web-based registration system on our website ( http://nashvillebritishcarclub.org/ ) that accommodates PayPal payment for registration and/or shirt purchases. This year’s shirts will again be high-quality polos…but in red with a white show logo that’s similar to last year’s (previous shirt picture is on the web).
Fundraising: Paul and Wanda Thompson are again beating the bushes for show sponsors and support. This does not have to be their exclusive job. If you/your employer/your neighbors are sponsorship candidates….try to engage! Every member can contribute to our fund raising! The more $$$$ we can use for the club and donate to charities (2nd Harvest Food Bank is our primary charity).
Volunteers Needed: When our car show starts on Saturday morning, everyone expects the field to be ready, signs posted, car parking helpers available, traffic directors in place, and the registration table operating. The show committee works hard to make sure materials are ready to do all of this and more….BUT, WE NEED MEMBERS TO HELP ON SHOW DAY! THIS IS A CLUB……YOU ARE A MEMBER……PLEASE COME EARLY AND HELP US MAKE THE SHOW A SUCCESS!!!! Please email me @ myriley4@bellsouth.net if you will help even for a short time.
Member roster:
Also included herein is a member roster with the latest information we have on 2011’s dues-paying members. Hopefully this document is reasonably accurate and will be helpful for member communications.
1. If your information is incorrect, please send me an e-mail w/corrections (myriley4@bellsouth.net) …particularly if you can add a correct email address.
2. If one of your friends is not on the list, encourage them to pay their dues!
2011 Monthly Drives” (more details and pictures on the website)
The NBCC drives have been great! I always wish more people could find the time to enjoy them, and to host them. This year we have already had 2 members (Dave Bishop & Paul Stedman) organize their “first” club drives and both were excellent. Hosting definitely takes some thought and work to be successful, but anyone can do it…..you just need an IDEA of what you’d think is fun…..and our drive locations so far look like all the fun people are in the south (except for that rebel Paul Stedman)! Are Paul and JD the only fun members north of Brentwood!?!?! Most of us are old enough to know what we think is fun! Please join us as a participant and consider what you’d do to host a drive in 2012
